ACTEW Strategic Plan Overview (17:44)
Through funding from the Trillium Foundation, ACTEW embarked on a strategic planning and resource development process in the summer of 2007 to be implemented over 2008-2010. With input from our members and select key stakeholders, ACTEW has created a visionary framework to support, sustain, and strengthen the employment and training sector servicing women in Ontario.
Canadian Women, Services and Public Policy: A Report from the UN Commission on the Status of Women
ACTEW was honored to have Nancy Peckford present the keynote address for this years annual general meeting. Nancy Peckford is currently the program director at the Candian Feminist alliance for International Action (FAFIA). FAFIA is dedicated to improving governments' compliance with its human rights obligations to women in Canada.
Nancy has cultivated her feminist leanings through her work with the St. John's women's centre (in Newfoundland and Labrador), as National Lobby Coordinator for the Canadian Women's March Committee to End Poverty and Violence Against Women (2000), researcher with the National Association of Women and the Law (2001), provincial coordinator of the Ontario Women's Network on Child custody and Access (2002), and program officer with the Canadian Labour Congress' Women's and Human Rights Department (2003).
ACTEW was pleased to present musical guests Megobrebi: a Torontonian Georgian Singing Ensemble, who performed a series of beautiful Georgian vocal harmonies for this year's meeting.
