What is a blog?
A blog is an online journal or newsletter that is frequently updated. It looks just like a web site and, like a web site, it is available to anyone who has Internet access.
A visitor to a blog can easily comment on what she has read and her comment will appear right on the blog. Visitors can also comment on one another's comments.
This is why ACTEW decided to have a blog.
With it, we can keep our members, and other interested people, up-to-date with the implementation of the LMDA and LMPA, and other labour policies, on a weekly or even daily basis.
Just as importantly, our readers can comment on what we write, provide more information and suggest other topics. You can also help one another by sharing relevant experiences, strategies and insights from their work and communities.
How do I comment?
At the end of each entry by ACTEW, you'll see orange letters that say: "comments". If you click on that word, a new window will appear asking you to "Leave your comment."
Type away.
Then "choose an identity". You may wish to remain anonymous, or if you select "other", you can give your name or use the "name" field to describe yourself in general terms, like "employment counsellor", "manager", or "MTCU office".
Once you're happy with your comment, click on the blue box at the bottom that says, "Publish Your Comment", to send your comment to us.
To return to the main page of the blog, click on the blue words, "The ACTEW Blog", at the top of the comment page.
The ACTEW Blog is a moderated blog. This means that comments are reviewed by our staff before they appear on the blog. Sometimes it may take a little time before your comment will be available to other people looking at the blog.
Guidelines for comments
Don't be shy! We welcome your feedback and are happy to help you feel at home on The ACTEW Blog. Unsure if your comment is suitable? Having problems posting a comment? Please feel free to email us at policy@actew.org or call us at (416) 599-3590.
Remember that anyone can read your comment. Think about this if you are including information that may identify you or other people, especially clients.
Keep to the topic. The goal of this blog is to bring about positive change for women as they train for and seek employment. If you have more than one issue to discuss, please look for other places on the blog that relate to your issues and make more than one comment. We love comments!
We strongly encourage comments that foster the conversation between government and community-based employment and training agencies, rather than comments that will shut down the dialogue.
ACTEW is restricted by funding and our charitable status from work that would be perceived as advocacy or lobbying. Sometimes this limits what we can say and what can be said on this blog by its users.
Users of The ACTEW Blog are bound by ACTEW's Terms and Conditions.

Please note that while ACTEW will not use your email address for any other reason then to send you our blog entries through this service, Google/Feedburner will have access to your email address. Please read their privacy policy.
